クリスマス・イヴ、少年マックスの家でも家族や親戚たち一同が集まり聖夜を祝おうとしていた。しかし、問題を抱える父親デイヴィッドは自室にこもってしまい、マックスは相性の悪い親戚の子供たちと大喧嘩になってしまう。そんな最悪のイヴに嫌気が差したマックスが、サンタクロースに宛てた手紙を破り捨てた瞬間、街を暗闇がつつみ始め…。
