時代に応じて様々なスタイルの音楽性を極めジャズ界を牽引し、日本でもモダンジャズの帝王と呼ばれ、絶大な人気を誇ったトランペット奏者マイルス・デイヴィス。彼のフランシス・テイラーと結婚した最盛期、一時引退した後、1979年に復帰を果たすまでが、ローリング・ストーン誌の記者デイヴ・ブリルの目を通じてユニークな方法で描かれる…。
