1970年代のアメリカ。女性が職に就くのが難しく、自分の名前でクレジットカードさえ作れなかった時代。女性弁護士のギンズバーグは、史上初の男女平等裁判の弁護を買って出る。法の専門家たちには100%負けると断言されていた訴訟だが…。今なおアメリカで最高裁判事を最高齢85歳で勤めるルース・ギンバーグの若かりし弁護士時代が描かれる。
