小惑星が接近し数週間後には人類滅亡を迎えようとしている地球。人々は間近に迫った終末に怯えつつも、最後の日々を謳歌していた。そんな時、妻に逃げられたダッジの元に高校時代の恋人からラブレターが届く。ダッジは元カノに会いに行くため、最近親しくなった隣人のペニーに車を出してもらい２人で旅に出るが、お互い惹かれ合い…。
