郊外の住宅街で幼い息子や娘と暮らすシングルマザーのマディソンは、夜ごと繰り返される怪奇現象に悩んでいた。家の中で謎の発光現象や震動が発生し、顔面が溶けた血まみれの怪人が現われるという恐ろしいもので、超常現象の専門家さえも脅えて逃げ出す始末。マディソンは、科学教師の恋人ニックの協力を得て本格的な調査を開始するが…。
