大恐慌時代のヴァージニア州が舞台。ボンデュラント３兄弟は密造酒の製造・販売で名を馳せていた。三男で野心家のジャックは、より大きな取引への経営転換を望み、街で美人なバーサを振り向かせることも考えていた…。犯罪が急増した時代に自分たちの生きる道を守るため、汚職にまみれた警察やライバルのギャングたちと闘った３兄弟の姿が描かれている。
