第二次世界大戦後のアメリカ裏社会で、名立たる悪人たちと関係していたフランク・シーラン。彼は伝説的マフィアのラッセル・ブファリーノに仕えた実在の殺し屋であり、1975年に失踪した全米トラック運転組合委員長ジミー・ホッファの暗殺をはじめ、多くの殺人事件に関与したとされる。そんな彼の視点からアメリカの闇の歴史を紐解いていく…。
